Description

A superb and extremely rare early M1938 German paratrooper two-tone camouflage baling wire combat helmet. It was found in the early 2000s in Rochefort, Belgium. The helmet is a « ET68 » with a lot number of « 75 », it is in overall excellent condition. The helmets exterior features a two-tone camouflage spray application of light green and darker green paint. Matte colors and untouched in its originals state. Paint is nicely still present all over the period applied bailing wire. The Luftwaffe decal is present, coming through the camouflage finish gives it a great look. In the close-up photos provided below you can see the oxidation and slight interaction of the wires to each other and the helmet itself. The camouflage finish of the helmet shows normal use to include a few scuffs and scraps along the top and rim of the helmet. Wear and paint loss is present on the location the wire came into direct contact with the camouflage finish helmet. The helmets interior remains untouched and undisturbed. Zinc metal liner band, black inner dome pad, the leather is in overall excellent slightly worn condition and still supple. It is nicely ink stamped with sizes and maker’s details. The chinstraps are complete and in excellent condition, snap marked with watermark. This is one of the best and one of the rarest M38 camouflaged helmet known. A unique opportunity to acquire an exceptional piece !
