Königlich Bayerischer Militärverdienstorden 1. Klasse mit Schwertern aus dem Besitz des Generalleutnants August Ipfelkofer. 


Das 1917 gefertigte Ordenskreuz aus vergoldetem Silber, der rückseitige untere Kreuzarm mit verbreiterter Bordierung, in der Agraffe punziert "950 J.L." für den Ordensjuwelier Jacob Leser, Straubing. Blaue transluszide Emaille. Im Bandring Silbergehaltspunze "900" sowie Herstellermarkierung "JACOB LESER".  Dazu die unkonfektionierte Ordensschärpe.


Der 1915 an Ipfelkofer verliehene Bruststern 2. Klasse gefertigt aus Silber, die Auflagen aus Gold mit blauer transluszider Emaillierung, rückseitiges Herstellersignet "Hofkunstanstalt Jacob Leser Straubing". Nadel "900" punziert.


Blau bezogenes Ordensetui mit silberner Prägung "Bayr. M.V.O. 1.Kl.". Innenseitig mit Samt und Seide ausgeschlagen, im Deckelinneren goldene Herstellerprägung von Jacob Leser und Etikett der Ordenskommission "K.B. Mil. Verd. Ord. Vergoldet", dazu die originale, einseitige Verleihungsurkunde datiert auf den 12. Dezember 1917 .


Orden in einwandfreiem Erhaltungszustand ohne Beschädigungen! Etui ohne Beschädigungen mit leichten Gebrauchsspuren. Urkunde mehrfach gefaltet mit kleinen Rissen.


Ipfelkofer erhielt den Millitärverdienstorden für seine Verdienste als Divisionskommandeur der 5. Königlich Bayerischen Reserve-Division. Die 1.Klasse des Militärverdienstordens mit Schwertern wurde laut E. Roth im ersten Weltkrieg 101 mal verliehen. Laut S. Zimmermann gelangten von 38 Ordenssätzen aus vergoldetem Silber nur 17 Sätze zur Verleihung, von denen wiederum fünf nach dem Ableben der Träger an das Großkanzleramt zurückgegeben wurden, daher können maximal 12 Exemplare in Privatbesitz verblieben sein.


Die Gruppe wurde uns direkt vom Ururenkel Ipfelkofers zur Auktion eingeliefert und ist erstmals am Sammlermarkt verfügbar.

Imperial Bavarian Military Merit Order 1st Class with swords to Generalleutnant August Ipfelkofer. Consigned for auction from the great-great-grandson of Ipfelkofer. Uncovered in the family's estate which is about to get cleared out in August 2017.


1st Class neck cross manufactured in 1917. Silver, gilt. Lower reverse cross arm with typical wide frame. "950" silver marked as well as J.L. (Jakob Leser) maker marked. Blue enamel in excellent condition. Ring with silver stamp "900" and maker's mark "JACOB LESER". Including its original ribbon with minor signs of wear.


1915 awarded 2nd Class breast star. Made from silver. "900" stamped to the reverse of the pin. Gold plated. Excellent blue enamel. "Hofkunstanstalt Jacob Leser Straubing" maker marked to the silver back-plate.


Large size blue case of issue with silvered sunken lettering "Bayr. M.V.O. 1.Kl.“. Silk lining with Jacob Leser’s maker’s mark. White velvet openable inlay. The certificate was originally hidden inside the case. A rare paper tag "K.B. Mil. Verd. Ord. Vergoldet“.


Award certificate issued on 12.12.1917. Folded. Small rips.


Ipfelkofer was awarded the Military Merit Order for his achievements as division commander of 5. Königlich Bayerische Reserve-Division. According to E. Roth, only 101 1st Class Order were awarded during WWI. According to S. Zimmermann, 17 of 38 set manufactured from gilt silver were ever awarded. 5 of the 17 issued sets were returned by the family to the „Großkanzleramt“.

The grouping of August Ipfelkofer is therefore 1 of 12 possible sets available worldwide.
