VIEW DESCRIPTION

A Luftschutz Ehrenzeichen 1 Stufe. The first class Luftschutz medal was awarded to those who gave exceptional service to the civil air defense of German from January 1933. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been gold fire gilded with polished highlights. The obverse features a pebbled Canterbury style cross that has a centrally placed mobile swastika that is surrounded by “Für Verdienste im Luftschutz” (For Meritorious Service in Air Defense). The reverse features that same pebbled cross with “1938”.

Stunning fire gilding with some minor oxidation.

Comes with the exceedingly rare case of issue.
