Membership pin of the NS. Deutscher Frontkämpferbund/Stahlhelm (Hü 4114 a).

The Stahlhelm was founded on December 25, 1918, in Magdeburg on the initiative of reserve officer Franz Seldte as the Stahlhelm-Bund der Frontsoldaten. Seldte was the sole federal leader until 1927 and from 1927 there was a dual leadership with the then deputy chairman Theodor Duesterberg. The steel helmet was financed by former military personnel and the entrepreneurs who had joined together in the German Gentlemen's Club, as well as by large landowners in the east of the Elbe.
