Description

Blade shows large ACS Scales (obverse) and Alexander Coppel in an arc above ACS Scales Solingen (reverse) trade mark. A fine and early example made right after the Weimar period. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show superb detail to eagle head pommel and oak leaf embellished crossguard with minor wear to highlight of the release button, but no lifting or loss of plating.  Reverse crossguard is stamped, “GKz 9924” (Schutzpolizei/Municipal Police Property, administrative district mark and weapon number “9924”. Dark brown stag horn grip plates show almost no surface wear with no cracks or chips, and with the Third Reich Police eagle properly pinned to the obverse plate. Plated blade measuring 33.5cm in length in fantastic condition showing very light surface wear/runner marks but no surface speckling, and no lifting or pitting, and no nicks to cutting edge. Spine of blade is Waffen-Amt marked with a “* over K”, blade is missing the brown leather buffer pad. Brown leather scabbard shows light surface wear and no swelling, and no rips, tears, creasing or damage to the reverse stitching.  Nickel-plated scabbard fittings show light surface wear with minor dent to the lower fitting, but no damage to the lower ball and are complete with both retaining staples. Upper fitting stamped with the Municipal Police Property and weapon number, matching to the dagger. The Brown leather frog is in matching condition and is marked with a maker from Erkrath and year 1938.
