Bavaria - etched cavalry M89 sword with portepee

Description

Bavarian cavalry sword M89 for a member of the 1. Chevaulegers-Regiment "Kaiser Nikolaus von Rußland“.

The sword comes with a nice etched blade to three sides. "Franz J. Berner Nürnberg" marked to the blade's back. Fine etched ornaments with the inscription "In Treue fest". The other side shows the unit of the soldier "1.Chev.Reg. Kaiser Nikolaus II. von Rußland" as well as the portrait of Prinzregent Luitpold of Bavaria. Slight stains.

Black celluloid grip without chipping. Nickel-plated hilt fittings. The crossguard displays the Bavarian coat of arms (lion). Original portepee ("Faustriemen").

Original black painted steel scabbard. One suspension ring (established 1910). No dents.

Length: 94 cm.

Signs of wear. Condition 2-3.
