Description

Extremely rare "been there" field cap worn by a soldier of the Afrikakorps. While unissued examples are turning up from time to time, sun-bleached and clearly "Africa worn" caps are nearly impossible to find!
Made in 1942. Originally applied machine-woven insignia. Cockade and red Artillerie soutache attached by machine.

Zinc grommets.

Red cotton liner with signs of wear. "1942" dated and "Alfred Valet, Mützenfabrik, Stuttgart - Bad Cannstatt" maker marked. 55 size stamped.

On the cap are black paint splashes.

Extremely hard to find. Well worn condition 2-. Slightly out of shape when looking at the visor.
