Description

A very interesting grouping to an unknown Unteroffizier who was part of Major Egmont Prinz zur Lippe-Weissenfeld's crew. Lippe-Weissenfeld was credited with 51 aerial night kills and awarded the Oak Leaves to the 1939 Knight's Cross. His aircraft has crashed in the Ardennes on 12.33.1944.

Part of this grouping are several original photographs of Lippe-Weissenfeld. Photos are written with "Gruppenkommendeur" which means that Lippe-Weissenfeld would have been this soldiers group commander of I./NJG 3. There are photos of the funeral of "Hauptmann Geiger" (August Geiger, ace awarded the Oak Leaves to the Knight's Cross). Lippe-Weissenfeld has held a speech.

There are a few photos documenting a Knight's Cross awarding ceremony. The photos were taken in May 1942 and show Oberleutnant Gerhard Krems getting awarded the Knight's Cross as well as another unknown ace.

The albums starts with his Unteroffizier's RAD service time, however, the majority of the photos are clearly Lufftwaffe related. Many photos do contain additional information period time written to the reverse. One, for example is April 1944 dated and shows a group of officers sitting in front of a castle. All names are written to the reverse. One is night fighter ace "Hauptmann Drewes", one Generalmajor Jung etc..

198 original photos in total. Part of this grouping are a few postwar photos, one with original postwar signature of Gerhard Krems!
