Hesse - M1852 damascus officer's cavalry sabre


Description

Rare M1852 officer's sabre with etched damascus blade!

Iron hilt with original nickel finish in place. Fish skin finished handle. Wire missing. Bronzed scabbard with two rings. Damascus blade marked "Eisenhauer" and "Damaststahl". Original gilding left. 

Original dedication (etched):

"A. Bissinger s./l. C. Coblenz" - " z. frdl. Erng. an die Dienstzeit 1887/88 1. Großherz. hess. Drag. Regt. (Garde Drag. Regt.) No 23";

Signs of use and age, however, a rare and untouched example!

Length: 98cm. Blade length: 82cm.
