France - M1874 officer's cuirassier or dragon helmet
Description
M1874 officer's dragon or cuirassier helmet. Separately attached comb from gilt brass. Hollow constructed multi-piece construction. Original screws. Original tail from black horse hair. To the left side a brass mounting for a so-called "Huppe" (missing). Black "houpette" from horsehair attached to the front side fitting on top of the comb.
Iron nickel-finished helmet with rust. Brass chain with leather straps. Signs of use and age.
Inner leather liner partially dry. Markings and stamps to the reverse.
Both visors finished with leather. Reverse brass reinforcement bar with one stamp.
