Saxony - M1890 Gardereiter-Regiment officer's helmet with M1907 parade lion

Description

Extremely rare M1890 officer's helmet for a Saxon "Gardereiter". Tombak shell. Gilt. Made in Dresden around 1900.

Silvered Saxon helmet star with separately attached gilt crest. Curved chinscales, gilt. Attached to the typical "cloverleaf" fitting and fixed with both original screws. Both cockades in place.

A two-piece constructed silver-finished lion with crest. Parade pattern M1907. Officer's type. From hollow constructed zinc. Nice patina. "1" marked to its testicles. Crowned cypher separately attached to the front shield with its original screws and nuts,

The lion is attached with three screws to a nickle-finished bottom plate. The plate is attached to the helmet body with a nut and a washer as it should be.

Leather lining most problably re-attached at a later time as well as both visor leathers. One of the lion screws looks more recent as well.

A very rare helmet in nice condition.
