Description

Third Reich infantry visor cap worn by a Waffen-SS officer. No question that this cap left the tailor as a Heer Infantry EM/NCO cap. However, it was later converted into a Waffen-SS "crusher" cap by adding a cloth sleeve eagle and removing the EM/NCO chin strap.

Things like that happened during the war and are proven by many period time photographes. No collector would bother attaching an original SS sleeve eagle to an army cap but the soldier would not mind the mismatch and kept on wearing the Heer wreath badge.

Waffen-SS Bevo maschine-woven EM/NCO sleeve eagle attached by hand. You can see it belongs to the cap since ages. The cap is maker marked and "539" numbered to the inside of the sweat-band. One chin strap button left.

Slightly moth damage. Worn condition. Size 56.
