Description

Original Waffen-SS assault gunner's tunic. A so-called "wrapper". The tunic shows an inventory stamp of "HEILER" based in Munich which was a company renting customes to film companies after the war. This SS wrapper was part of their inventory and had certainly Heer insignia attached once. However, the cut and the markings proof the wrapper was definitely issued to SS troops.

The cotton lining shows and extra button period time added to an inside pocket. The other pocket was period time repaired. There are size stamps and a "630" factory code which is a known code for having produced to the SS.

The rear seam was period time added because the size of the tunic was changed. Usually, SS wrappers do not come with this vertical seam to the reverse.

While you can see clear traces of SS tabs being worn with this tunic, you can also see stitching holes of the smaller Heer tabs. The tunic had an SS sleeve eagle attached by machine to the left sleeve. A clear shadow is visible here.

The machine-woven EM/NCO cuffband FLORIAN GEYER looks to be period time attached to us. If you carefully bend if over you can see unworn cloth underneath.

The Iron cross 2nd Class ribbon is attached with a pin only. There is one pair of award loops with clear signs of wear. An East Medal ribbon attached through the cloth.

Medium size. Certainly, a "touched" but an extremely rare tunic which will look great once properly restored with correct insignia.
