Description

M44 Heer field tunic made in 1945. It was worn by a tranport Feldwebel serving with division "Großdeutschland". The tunic is "45" dated to the lining, marked with size stamps and the Reichsbetriebsnummer. The lining is from silk.

The insignia are period time attached. The collar tabs were attached by machine. The shoulder straps with light-blue piping are typical examples made from M44. The zinc "GD" cyphers come with one prong each. It is hard to say if they ever had a second prong.

The breast eagle is an earlier M40 which was however attached by machine in triangle shape. Typical for 1944. It was attached through the liner, also typical for tunic made at the end of the war.

All buttons are complete and originally attached. The "Großdeutschland" EM/NCO cufftitle is machine-embroidered and attached to the seam of the sleeve. They did this to be able to use shorter cuffband in order to safe material.

There was some minor moth damage which was professionally repaired. Mainly to the back. Some holes are still there.

Overall good condition. Medium size.
