Description

Kill report document grouping to Leutnant Heinz Fries serving with the 5./Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 together with his radio operator Unteroffizier Staffa and air gunner Obergefreiter Deubzer. Fries was credited 10 aerial victories.

Report

Original 5./NJG1 issued "Abschussmeldung" (kill report) for the above-mentioned group's kill of a 4 engined Halifax aircraft.

The documents state that the mission was a "Zahme & Wilde Sau" one. The enemy aircraft was crashed down southeast of Schmaleberg near Höxter.

The crew started their operation as a "Zahme Sau" mission, but when their radio operation system failed, they had to switch to "Wilde Sau". This kill report is a great example of a "Wilde Sau" maneuver.

11.3.1944 dated and signed.

"Gefechtsbericht" signed by Fries and two "Luftzeugenkampfberichte" signed by Deubzer and Staffa.

Reports of the group commander signed by Hptm. (later Major) von Bonin and the Staffelführer. Latter was signed per pro.
