Third Reich "Wandbehang" tapestry - SS Julfest
Description
Made by Deutsches Heimatwerk. It was a part of the Third Reich Reichsnährstand.
A hand-woven tapestry in the so-called "Beiderwand" technique, typical for Schleswig-Holstein. It shows the tree of life (Lebensbaum). Nine attached fabric loops at the top.
The tapestry mostly decorated the wall of the so-called "Julecke" (Yule Corner). Nicely described in the period time book "Die Gestaltung der Feste im Jahres- und Lebenslauf in der SS-Familie". Published by SS-Oberabschnitt West.
