Description

A nice grouping to SS-Hauptsturmführer Alfred Lex serving with SS-VT-Standarte "Deutschland" and SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 4 "Der Führer“ as well as 2. SS-Panzerdivision "Das Reich". Killed in action on 11. March 1944 near Shepetivka, Ukraine.

Awards: 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class, 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class, Wound Badge in gold, German Cross in gold on 27.10.1942, Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on 10.12.1943, Close Combat Clasp in bronze, silver, and gold (Spring of 1944), and two Tank Destruction Badges in silver.

SS-Wehrpass to his brother SS-Unterscharführer Ludwig Lex. He served also with SS-Division "Das Reich". Issued on 10. May 1938. Original applied photo. His units are listed on page 12. Awards: Sudetenland Medal and East Medal. Campaign list from 2.10.1939 until 25.8.1941. Listed on page 32/33. Killed in action on 11.10.1942. He died in the military hospital in Mannheim (Germany). Noted on page 34. Including a letter from the "Chefadjutant der Wehrmacht beim Führer" Generalleutnant Rudolf Schmundt (1896-1944) to his parents. Hand-signed by him. Dated "Führerhauptquartier 27. June 1944". A rare autograph!

Two handwritten letters from SS-Hauptsturmführer Lex. Both dated "Russia 4. March 1944". He died one week later. One letter was to his parents, the other to his male cousin Robert Pittini. Also included are six postwar photos of Robert Pittini and Lex Luise (cousin). You can see some parts of this grouping in the photos.

19 period time photos of his Waffen-SS service. There is an excellent portrait photo of him (postcard format) as well as two shots with Close Combat Clasp in silver and Tank Destruction Badge(s). Furthermore, 15 period time private photos of him and his family as well as three postwar photos (copies of the original photos). Total: 37 photos.
