Description

Family purchased grouping of Knight's Cross recipient Hauptmann der Reserve Ernst Zeller serving with 3./Artillerie Regiment 114. Hauptmann Zeller was killed in action and died on 23. August 1944 at Hauptverbandsplatz 1/46. He was awarded the Knight's Cross on 16.11.1943 serving as leader of 3./Artillerie-Regiment 114.

There are two large size original photographs of Zeller wearing his Knight's Cross. One comes with its original wooden frame in size 50cm x 40cm. This photo is also part of the lot in size 9cm x 13cm.

A pair of Hauptmann artillery shoulder boards as well as his personal Krim Shield. Both with some moth damage. There is his DRL Sport's Badge in bronze and a four place field ribbon bar. There is a period time French (?) compass in working condition which he might have taken as a souvenir during the France Campaign.

There are hundreds of period time letters from and to Zeller as well as letters of condolence to his family after he was killed.

There is a 46.Infanterie-Division issued letter sent by the division commander congratulating Zeller to his Hauptmann promotion. An ID card "Ausweis für die Innenstadt Paris", his death card, as Hitler-Jugend leader's ID card with photograph, a "Reichsarbeitsdienst Gau 27 Baden" achievment booklet to him, and his SA achievement booklet with period time applied photo of Zeller in HJ uniform.

Original Wound Badge in black certificate issued on 25.5.1944. Signed by his "Abteilungsführer". His DRL Sport's Badge booklet with original HJ uniform. Several HJ related documents as well as a list of items shipped home to his family after his death:

Knight's Cross
Krim Shield (still part of this grouping)
Brieftasche mit Lichtbildern (still part of this grouping)
Geldbeutel (still part of this grouping)

and many other things.

Inside a small leather wallet were two ERNST ZELLER RAD name tags. There is a small 1943 pocket calendar with a lot of notes of Zeller inside.

A comprehensive grouping with a lot of room for research and maybe also some "hidden treasures".

Important: Our consignor has Zeller's Knight's Cross in case available and he might to offer that to the winner. An early postwar made piece that might have been purchased by the family in the 1950s.
