Description

Interesting grouping to Major Ferdinand Freiherr von Schrottenberg (5.9.1908 - 21.12.1941).

Very fine privately purchased 4-pocket field tunic with period time attached insignia for an Oberleutnant.

All buttons with full original color in place. Excellent silk lining. Hand-embroidered breast eagle attached by hand. Machine-attached collar tabs. Kavallerie-Regiment 17 (earlier: Reiter-Regiment 17) shoulder boards for a Leutnant. "Goldgelb" color piping.

Tailor's tag named to "Baron v. Schrottenberg". "R.R.17" unit marked and "1936" dated. Parts of it attached by hand.

Minor very small moth bites. Certainly not worn a lot. A very fine tunic.

Worn officer's visor cap with "goldgelb" piping. Zinc wreath badge, tombak cockade and zinc cap eagle. Chin strap in place. Silk lining with damaged celluloid diamond. "Luxus" marked. Sweat-band with signs of wear. Some parts of the seam have opened.

Size 56. Some moth damage.

Custom made ashtray with a real silver tag "Kav.Regt.17 Bamberg 1937-1938". Top made from real silver. Including fittings for two cigaretts. Bottom horseshoes from nickel-finished iron. 

Blue enameled personal "RR 17" (Reiter-Regiment 17) cufflinks. Extremely rare! A very small "RR 17" hand-emgraved plate from real silver. Diameter: 7cm.

Thought after Kavallerie-Regiment / Reiter-Regiment 17 related unit chronicles as well as address lists. Published pre 1945 and post war.
