Description

Consigned by the grandson and never available on the market before!

Waldemar von Fischer (1189 - 1974) served as a WW1 u-boat commander during WWI and as chief of staff of the WWII shipyards St. Nazaire and La Rochelle during WWII. He became Danish Naval Commander Islands from August 1944 until the end of the war.

His WWI U-Boot commands were:
UB 33 - 1.2.1917 - 21.3.1917
UC 60 - 25.6.1917 - 30.11.1917
UB 38 - 6.12.1917 - 24.12.1917
UB 126 - 20.4.1918 - 11.11.1918

Von Fischer has sunk four steamers during WWI: Est, Ottokar, Maja, Laila. 5461 BRT in total. Please see other items at auction.

Very rare Freikorps von Loewenfel Cross on screw-back. Tombak. "Nr. – 317 -/- GES.- GESCHÜTZT -/- KÜST – BERLIN – C19 -/- SEYDELSTR. 19A –" marked to the reverse. Original nut and back-plate.

Including a portrait photo of Waldemar von Fischer in uniform wearing exactly (!) this badge. 9cm x 13cm.
