Waldemar von Fischer (1189 - 1974) served as a WW1 u-boat commander during WWI and as chief of staff of the WWII shipyards St. Nazaire and La Rochelle during WWII. He became Danish Naval Commander Islands from August 1944 until the end of the war.
Von Fischer has sunk four steamers during WWI: Est, Ottokar, Maja, Laila. 5461 BRT in total. Please see other items at auction.

Third Reich period time Kriegsmarine officer's dagger with a "Kaiserliche Marine" WWI period time top pommel for a naval dagger attached. It was worn by von Fischer example like that. Please note that there is a cap between pommel and handle which is covered by the cord of the portepee.
Very fine dagger made by Eickhorn with a very clean etched and maker marked blade. Lovel white handle with a period time attached portepee showing great patina. One dent to the brass scabbard. No other damage.
Including a single hanger. Gilt brass fittings. Good condition.
