Description

Early Heer parade tunic for a Fahnenjunker-Feldwebel (officer's candidate) serving with Kavallerie-Regiment 17. A later Afrika Campaign veteran. A very rare unit marked and depot issued example with original trousers.

Originally machine-attached collar tabs and NCO tress. Matching "goldgelb" color piping around the collar. "Goldgelb" piped shoulder boards with hand-embroidered "17" cyphers. All pipings are perfectly matching in patina and condition.

Complete and originally attached buttons. Re-attached breast eagle. When becoming an officer's candicate he would have obviously changed the breast eagle. This officer's hand-embroidered eagle was attached by hand. We believe it was 100% period time attached.

Four period time attached pair of loops for 3 awards and one ribbon bar.

Fine silk lining with a rarely seen depot marking " Geprüft I./1.K.S.". "Georg Schwert" tailor's tag without a name dated "1.2.38" to an inside pocket.
Please note there is a small hole made for his officer's dagger hangers to go through. A 14cm long seam of the lining has opened.

Period time hand-attached woven AFRIKAKORPS cuff title.

Medium size. No moth damage.

Matching straight parade trousers. Again with perfectly matching (patina) "goldgeld" color cavalry piping. Silk lining. A barely readable "Geprüft I./1.K.S." depot marking, the same as stamped to the tunic. This nicely proofs trousers and tunic always belonged together.
Complete and originally attached buttons. No moth damage.

Waist: 86cm. Length: 104cm.

According to our consignor, this uniform grouping originally came of the estate of Ferdinand Freiherr von Schrottenberg, a later Major (5.9.1908 - 21.12.1941).
