Description

Important Luftwaffe Degen for generals. Made by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen. Until the beginning of WWII in 1939, the Degen were awarded personally by Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring.

A beautifully etched blade to three sides. Excellent condition! Consisting of fine ornaments and the inscription "Der Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe Hermann Göring" (facsimile signature) as well as "In dankbarer Anerkennung" on the other side. Gold-plated letters on a blued background.

An orange celluloid grip with intact wire wrapping. No chips or damage. Nice fire-gilded tombak hilt fittings. The ornaments are made by hand. Each side comes with a folding crossguard. Unfortunately, the Luftwaffe eagle on the front is missing (it was attached with three rivets). The small clip at the bottom of the crossguard, which holds the scabbard, is slightly bent. Therefore the scabbard does not hold perfectly. Including the officer's portepee.

Black leather scabbard with fire-gilded fittings. Each attached with a clip on the reverse. Damaged in the middle area, "repaired" with black tape. I can certainly get professionally repaired.

Length: 92.3 cm.
