Description

A 2nd place victor oak leaf head wreath with two ribbons attached for a sport meet in the town of Wilkau-Hatzlau in 1937. Made from faux oak leafs. Maker’s paper tag still attached. A filigree but meaningful statement of the Nazis using Oak leafs in concession to the Greeks to honor victorious moments in sport.

This particular wreath is featured in Newbrough’s book “Sport and the Third Reich” on page 76.
