Description

Three caps of Leutnant Willi Karl Hans Sammet were rescued by our consignor when the family were about to dump them during a house clearance about 25 years ago. His tunics were already lost at this time.

Sammet, born on 18.5.1914, served as a Zugführer (platoon leader) 5./Panzer-Regiment 36 (14. Panzer-Division) when he was killed in action on 5.7.1941 near Piszczow. He is buried at Nowograd, Ukraine today.

All three caps are available on the market for the first time.

-

Medal and document grouping to Leutnant Willi Sammet's father Karl Sammet. Extremely rare medal grouping containing both types of the War Merit Cross 1st and 2nd Class. Scarce medal bar with his 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class, Hindenburg Cross, War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords and without swords. Another, separate, tombak War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords.
A near mint War Merit Cross 1st Class without swords with beautiful silver finish. Maker marked 50. Zinc War Merit Cross 1st Class with swords. 62 maker marked to the reverse of the pin.

Feldpost letters including some address to Leutnant Willi Sammet serving with Feld 5./Panzer-Regiment 36 (Feldpost 36881) but also "Panzertruppenschule Schießlehrgang), Heeres-Nachr.Schule A/II/58 or Heeresnachrichtenschke 1/II.

A NSKOV ID to Karl Sammet, his father.

His father's button hole ribbons, a RADwJ membership brooch and service badge as well as a HJ shooting badge and HJ membership badge in gold. RZM 1/120 marked and "B" marked. No chips. Both HJ badges are most probably to Lt. Willi Sammet and so is his tombak Westwall Medal in Karl Hensler marked bag of issue.
