Mark I tanker's cruise helmet

Description

Clearly worn Mark I "Brodie" helmet for a British tank crew soldier. A "cruise" helmet with the 1st model cruise visor system attached.

Originally tank crews were issued with the leather helmet and the removable face visor they then fitted these chain mail visors invented by an army doctor Richard Cruise to protect the tank crews and others from shell splinters, they went on later in WW1 to produce the MK II face veil which was spring mounted on the helmet, this is the 1st model.

Original "rough" paint to the shell. Quite a bit of light rust.
Black partially loose with some damage to the leather. Fragile but still flexible leather chin strap.
