An early SS Service Dagger. Made by Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen.
The blade shows the etched motto "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" and the Hammesfahr maker's mark. Good condition, a few small stains. A black wooden handle with inserted SS roundel and eagle. Signs of use. Nickel crossguards. "II" stamped to the bottom crossguard.
Steel scabbard with matching nickel fittings. The scabbard has pitting corrosion and was probably cleaned (condition 3). Furthermore a few small dents to the lower fitting. Three screws are missing.
