This tunic (a close up of one shoulder board) was published in John R. Angolia's and Adolf Schlicht's "Uniforms & Traditions of the German Army 1933-1945" in 1983. 
It was purchased by a collector from an US vet's estate around 1990. It come with other items originally. It changed hands in 2005 again and now was consigned to our auction

Extremely rare parade tunic for a cavalry troops enlisted man serving with 1./Kavallerie-Regiment 5. A scarce pattern with "gold-gelb" yellow machine-embroidered skulls to both shoulder boards. This type of privately purchased shoulder boards was only tolerated for a very short time by Kav.Rgt.5 prior to the war before it was authorized later in war.

Dark green boards with embroidered skull and gold-geld piping in matching patina and condition. Only one tiny hole to each board.

Machine-attached collar tabs. Woven NCO/officer's type breast eagle on dark green backing attached by hand. Hand-attached "radioman" sleeve badge.

All buttons complete and period time attached. Two buttons to the reverse look re-attached. 

Cotton lining. Size markings as well as a "B38" depot stamp."2. Aufkl.20" unit marked. "5/" and "I" stamped.

One small hole to the right sleeve as well as some moth damage to the right shoulder. Apart from that, good condition 2-.
