This nicely detailled sculpture is made from ceramics, the so-called "Böttgersteinzeug". It was manufactured by Meissen. The sculpture was a gift to "Oberst B. Bräuer Fallschirm-Jäger-Rgt. 1 - 1. Bataillon" and is dated "1. Juni 1939".
Bruno Oswald Bräuer was the commander of I. Bataillon of the Fallschirm-Jäger-Regiment 1 in Stendal. In 1939 he was promoted to commander of the regiment and representative commander of the 7. Flieger-Division.
The inscription is engraved in the base. Meissen maker's mark is engraved into the neck of the eagle and the sculpture's base.
The photos show a textile lint lying over the right eye which can be mistaken as damage. Actually, the sculpture has no damages at all.
