Description

Rare grouping to Jakob Schirra serving with II. Seeflieger-Abteilung during WWI.

Imperial German Naval Observer's Badge. Made from tombak. Remains of the original gilding are present. Hollow inside, so-called "hohl verbödet". The catch has been period time replaced. A nicely worn badge and very hard to find. ("Abzeichen für Beobachter auf Marineflugzeugen").

WWII Luftwaffe Soldbuch. Issued on 1.9.1939. The original photo is in place. It shows him as a Luftwaffe official with officer rank. His units are listed on page 4. Listed awards: 1914 Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class and Naval Observer's Badge. The Soldbuch comes with all pages. The last pages of the book are loose. Good condition.

WWI certificate, which documents his military career very well. For example: On 19. June 1918, Schirra was involved in a battle with a British submarine, a cruiser, and a destroyer. During this battle, his aircraft was shot down by a British single-seater. After that, he became a British prisoner of war.

Luftwaffe observer's ID. Issued on 27.8.1938. Original applied photo. The swastikas were painted over with a pencil.

Including period time documents and identity cards as well as some postwar documents.

Signs of use.
