Description

Rare grouping to KuK Feldpilot Julius Arigi. Hauptmann Arigi is the second most successful fighter pilot of the Austro-Hungarian Aviation Troops with a total of 32 credited victories. He had flown 165 combat sorties. Four times awarded the Austro-Hungarian Medal for Bravery in Gold.

After the Anschluss of Austria, he was transferred to the Luftwaffe and served as a flight instructor with Jagdfliegerschule 5 in Wien-Schwechat. His most famous flight students were Walter Nowotny and Hans-Joachim Marseille. During WWII, he served at several air bases (Fliegerhorst) in Hungary, the Balkans, and North Africa.

WWI Austro-Hungarian Field Pilot's Badge. 1st pattern (Franz Joseph I). Gilded tombak badge. Enameled wreath and crown. Re-attached catch and pin. Comes with a modern case.

Luftwaffe pilot's ID card. It was issued on 4.11.1939. Original applied photo.

His WWI cigarette case. Silvered. Dated "1916". It opens and closes correctly. Size: 10.5x8.5 cm.

Austro-Hungarian Medal for Bravery in Silver with one bar and the original ribbon. Made from real silver.

WWI Austro-Hungarian booklet "Der Soldat". Published in 1916.

A book that documents very well his WWI military career. It was compiled by the Hauptmann himself and was a gift to his son Peter for Christmas 1944. A very interesting collection!

Three photocopies of period time photos, a postwar identity card, and his visiting card.

Signs of use. Overall condition 2.
