Description
Rare sun-bleached "been there" M41 Heer tunic for an Afrikakorps member. This tunic was certainly worn during the Afrika Campaign. It belonged to a Civil Servant in the rank of a Hauptmann and is exactly the same tunic as shown on the photo part of this offer. While the boards look to be exactly the same (still Oberleutnant rank on the photo), the breast eagle and collar tabs have changed). Since the photo was taken in 1941 (in Tobruk), I believe he changed his insignia later to have a nice officer's collar tabs and a proper officer's breast eagle. I don't believe the insignia were postwar applied by a collector. No one would applied Civil Servant tabs to a rare Afrika tunic. Studying the photo carefully you can see it is example the same uniform as being offered here.

Size stamped and 1941 (E41) dated as well as maker marked to the inside. Cotton khaki lining. Original attached buttons.
Two par of period time attached loops for awards to the breast pocket.

Sun-bleached and well worn however no damage.

A brilliant tunic. It nearly turned from green to white!
Size M.
