Description
Important Soldbuch to U-Boot commander Kapitänleutnant Karl Schimpf, commander of the type XXI U-3009.
 
Schimpf served as a "Wachoffizier" with 2.Geleitflottille from October 1939 until January 1940 before he was sent to "Hilfskreuzer Thor" as a watch officer until May 1941. He was promoted the commander of 3. Minensuch-Flottille shortly after.
 
From July until November 1942 he was trained as a U-Boot sailor. He served as "1WO" on U-514 from November 1942 until May 1943 and commanded U-803 from September 1943 until April 1944. In November 1944 he took over the command of U-3009 until May 1945 when he sunk his u-boat on 5.5.1945 (Aktion Regenbogen).

Soldbuch with original attached photograph. Issued on 8.6.1944 by Feldpostabteilung M53033 (Führer der Unterseeboote Ost). "Kommando 5. Unterseebootsflottille" stamped. Furthemore a large red "U" to the first page.
 
Awards on page 4: 
1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class, 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class, Auxiliary War Cruiser Badge, Minesweeper War Badge, U-Boot War Badge.
 
Many other notes including late 1945 notes.
 
Furthermore an original 6cm + 9cm photograph of U-3009 as well as a book on Hilfkreuzer Thor. Schimpf is mentioned a couple of times.
