Description
Very interesting document grouping to Unteroffizier Paul Schäfer serving with Green.Rgt. 1040 and "Einheit Quaas" which was part of this regiment. Furthermore with 2.Kp./Pio.Btl. 226. All units belonged to 226. Infanterie-Division which was based at Dünkirchen in 1944/1945.

15.1.1944 issued Soldbuch with original attached photograph of Schäfer. Awards on page 22: War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords, Wound Badge in black,  General Assault Badge, Iron Cross 2nd Class.

A very nice stamp "Fstgs. Kdtr.Dünkirchen" stamp to the next page.

All award documents are complete.
Certificate to the General Assault Badge. Pionier Btl. 111. 21.4.1944 dated. Signed by the battalion commander. Folded once.
Certificate to Wound Badge in black. 22.3.1944 issued in Riesa. Folded Once.
Certificate to the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with swords. Issued when he was still serving with the Luftwaffe. Verbindungsstaffel 59. Facsimile signed by General Bogatsch. Folded once.

The rarest bid certainly is the certificate to the Iron Cross 2nd Class which was issued in Dünkirchen on 24.12.1944. A print is a rather small size one which is known for being issued to Dünkirchen troops like that. It is 226.Inf.Div. stamped and comes with an original ink signature of commander of "Festung Dünkirchen" Vizeadmiral Friedrich Frisius. A very rare document which is exactly as it should be! Typical known type for Dünkirchen!
Very nice condition. Folded once.

Postwar documents. POW related.

Extremely rare Dünkirchen grouping!
