Description
Untouched "battle damaged" Heer M40 helmet which was brought back as a souvenir. It was certainly not worn when a shell splinted his it and left two holes to the sell. No blood stains to the liner. The liner and chin strap are definitely original attached. Inner ring and liner were also damaged by the splinter.

A textbook M40 helmet was was overpainted in the field as it happened a lot. You can clearly see brush marks. They covered the eagle decal this helmet had originally. You can still see bits of it.
The chin strap is maker marked and 1940 dated.
There is a lot number stamp to the shell but the maker mark and size stamp it probably covered with paint. We could not make this out.
The size should be 56.

An absolutely rare and untouched "been there" helmet which certainly could tell some story! Very rare!
