Description
Important grouping to Karl Turban born in 1893. A WW1 pilot who served with 14.Staffel of Bombengeschwader 14. Post WW1, he joined the Freikorps unit 3.Kurländisches Infanterie Regiment der Eisernen Division and has fought in the Baltic States.

Turban was awarded the 1914 Iron Cross 2nd and 1st Class, the WW1 Prussian Pilot's Badge, the Long Service Award for 6 years, the Hindenburg Cross, the Hanseatic Cross (Hamburg), the Wound Badge in black and silver, the Baltic Cross 1st and 2nd Class as well as the Awaloff Cross.

Part of the grouping is Third Reich period time photo of him serving with the Luftwaffe RLM.  He wears his Iron Cross and the Pilot's Badge as well as the ribbon bar part of this grouping.

Part of the grouping is his WW1 period time paybook which he carried on using until the 1920s. It is full of entries on his campaigns, medals, promotions, units and a lot more.

"Offensive in den Mauren 14/15, Vormarsch im Osten 15, Stellungskämpfe in Kurland, Offensive bei Arras a.d. Somme 16 etc...."

Notes his driver's and pilot's license on page 4. "Mil.Pilotenschein A1-A2". Unit stamps "Bombengeschwader 3".

There are many notes and details on his Freikorps campaigns. There are "Eiserne Division" campaigns noted from 1919-1920. It looks that he joined the Reichswehr in 1921 as an Unterfeldwebel.
