Wehrmacht, folding shovel ('Klappspaten') that comes complete with its (rarely seen!) yellowish-tan-coloured- and 'Ersatz'-leather-based cover. The shovel is clearly maker-marked and dated: 'GYJ 1942' and retains a fair bit of its period-applied, black-coloured paint. The yellowish-tan-coloured- and 'Ersatz'-leather- (ie. 'Pressstoff'-) based cover comes complete with all its period flaps and rivets in place and is nicely dated '1944': it also shows an impressed 'WaA'-stamp. The piece shows some moderate wear and age but was never cleaned and comes as found.
