Description
Extremely rare Luftwaffe Honor Goblet grouping to the Kriegsmarine ship's pilot, a so-called "Bordflieger", and later Jagdflieger Oberleutnant Helmutz Schmitz. Only two Honor Goblets were ever awarded to Kriegsmarine pilots! Part of the grouping is a machine-written personal CV of Schmitz which he must have wrote postwar. It tells you all details about his service time beginning from his Reichsmarine service time in 1932, his time in the Spanish Civil War with Kreuzer Karlsruhe, with Bordlfiegerstaffel 5/196, etc... Schmitz was part of the Sudetenland Campaign, the campaigns in Denmark, Norway and France. He served with III./Z.G.1 in France in 1944 and fought with J.G.4 during the last "Reichsverteidigung" battles in Germany.

Luftwaffe Honor Goblet. Engraved: OBERFELDWEBEL HELMUTH SCHMITZ AM 15.10.1942". "FEINSILBER ALPAKA AUFLAGE" stamped to the bottom.
"Joh. Wagner & Sohn" maker marked. A very small dent to the bottom stand. The dent is maybe 1-2mm.
Height: 21cm. The goblet was certainly cleaned a few times over the decades but already shows patina again.

Squadron Clasp for Aufklärer in gold with star hanger. Zinc. Unmarked. Most of the original gold finish left.

Original award document for the Honor Goblet. Issued to Oberfeldwebel Schmitz on 15.10.1942. Awarded for "... hervorrangenden Tapferkeit und der besonderen Erfolge als Bordflieger".
Extremely rare document. One of two possible documents ever issued. Folded once. Four holes.
Original telegram sent from Bordfliegerstaffel 5/196 announcing that the Honor Goblet was awarded to him and will be handed over with the actual goblet at a later time.

2.2.1944 dated telegram sent from Generalleutnant und Fliegerführer Atlantik Kessler congratulating Schmitz for being awarded the German Cross in gold on 16.1.1944.  1./Seeaufklärungsgruppe 128 stamped.

Certificate to the Squadron Clasp for Aufklärer in gold with hanger in gold issued on 31.12.1942. "Fliegerführer Atlantik" stamped. Original signature of a Major. Folded. Two holes.
Field issued certificate to the Squadron Clasp for Aufklärer in gold with hanger "300" issued on 17.12.44 by Jagdgeschwader 4.  Signed by a Major. Schmitz served as an Oberleutnant with III. Gruppe of Jagdgeschwader 4. Folded. Large rips. Two holes.

There are two photos albums on his early 1930s service time with the Reichsmarine. Nicely set-up and described by him.
The grouping contains more interest photos and documents going up to his service time with the Bundeswehr until 1970.
A comprehensive and very important grouping with a lot for room for professionals research!
