Important: 2 DLRG ID cards, three photos and the "Divisionsnadel" of 1. Gebirgs-Division certificate are not part of the grouping anymore. We marked the missing items on the picutres.
Grouping to Oberleutnant Richard Mengele serving with II./Gebirgsartillerie-Regiment 97 and IV./Gebirgsartillerie-Regiment 79. He was awarded the Wound Badge in black and in silver, the Iron Cross 2nd Class, the General Assault Badge and the East Medal. Furthermore, he was awarder the "Divisionsnadel" of the 1. Gebirgs-Division. The grouping includes a very rare color certificate to this honor pin.
Mengele was wounded several items and killed in action on 19.12.1943 in Russia (near Cherson) at the age of 24.

Certificate to the "Divisionsnadel" of 1. Gebirgs-Division issued on 24.6.1943. Original signature of the commander of 1.Gebirgs-Division Walter Stettner Ritter von Grabenhofen. Full color certificate. Folded once.
Two certificates for the Wound Badge in silver, one for the Wound Badge in black. Certificate to the East Medal signed by the regiment commander. Certificate to the General Assault Badge signed by Generalmajor and division commander of 1.Gebirgs-Division Lang.
Certificate to the Iron Cross 2nd Class again signed by Generalmajor Lang. Certificate to the Order of the Romanian Crown.

Several original letters of officers sent to Mengeles mothers explaining the death of her son. Documents related to his death. A large quantity of Feldpost letters sent from Mengele to his family. Several original death cards as well as other period time documents related to his family.

Soldbuch complete with all 24 pages but with the cover missing. No awards noted. Wehrpaß with original attached photograph. All awards noted, a long list of his campaigns.
Feldpost letters:
There are probably around 300 Feldpost letters. All war time and from 1940-1943. Most without envelopes. Sent to his mother and family who collected them. An excellent source of research for this grouping!
