Description
Portrait of Oberstleutnant Oskar-Heinrich "Heinz" Bär.
Bär flew more than one thousand combat missions (Western, Eastern and Mediterreanean theatres).
He was one of the most successful fighter pilots of the German Luftwaffe.

Bär was recommended a total of three times for theKnight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds, but all commendations were declined by Reichsmarschall Herrmann Göring. Most likely because of personal dislike, coupled with Bär's lack of military discipline and insubordinated character.
