1914 Iron Cross 1st Class in case with outer carton.
One-piece construction with a non-magnetic core. Full original black paint. With the original case of issue and the rare outer carton. Attached paper tag to the top "Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse. Nur von dem Beliehenen zu öffnen.
Awarded by General Falkenhayn on 10. November 1914. The information was written with pen to the back of the outer carton. The place of the awarding is unfortunately hard to read.
A very nice set!
The top of the case is slightly loose.

King Frederick William III of Prussia initially created the Iron Cross as a military decoration on March 17, 1813, during the Napoleonic Wars. The Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War (1870), World War I (1914), and World War II (1939).
The Iron Cross was usually a military decoration only but awarded to civilians for performing military functions in a few instances.
