Description

Extremely rare "been there" field cap worn by a soldier of the Afrikakorps. While unissued examples are turning up from time to time, sun-bleached and clearly "Africa worn" caps are nearly impossible to find!

This example was manufactured in 1941. It comes with the typical red color lining and a "Lago-Berlin" maker's mark. Size "56" stamped. Clear signs of wear, patina and sweat-stains.

Zinc grommets which show plenty of corrosion.

Original attached machine-woven insignia. Quite sloppy attached by hand however clearly absolutely matching showing the same sort of patina and sun-bleached as the rest of the cap. The horizonal seam of the visor is going over the cockade which proofs that it is definitely period time attached.

Extremely hard to find.
