Description

Important field tunic to Major Walter Huß. Huss servbed as commander of I./Artillerie-Regiment when he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross for outstanding bravery on 21.9.1944. He was killed in action shortly after on 29.1.1945.

This tunic was worn by Huss as a Hauptmann. You can find a button and a small catch underneath the collar to attach his Knight's Cross. His German Cross is hand-attached by hand to the right breast pocket. Please note that the metal wreath is slightly loose. Prongs are broken. 
There are loops for a small ribbon bar and three pair of loops for awards to the left breast pocket.

The tunic insignia are also original attached. Hand-attched officer's breast eagle, machine-attached collar tabs. Boards and tabs are nicely matching in condition and patina.

Postwar attached replica KRIM shield to the left sleeve.
Original attached and complete buttons.

Silk lining with clear signs of wear. No name tag or tailor's tag.

Good condition 2. Nicely worn "been there tunic". Medium size. No moth damage.

Note: Huss was awarded the German Cross in gold on 29.3.1943 as an Oberleutnant serving with I./Art.Rgt.240 which was part of 170.Infanterie-Division. Huss served as deputy commander of the I. Abteilung in 1944 when the division was involved in heavy combat in Lithuania, Poland and East Prussia
