Certificate to 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class. Issued to Obergefreiten Karl Schwarz on 12.3.1945. On the same day, the Battles of Danzig began, in which the 1. Panzer Artillerie Regiment 103 was involved.
The certificate is signed by Generalleutnant Clemens Betzel (Knight´s Cross with Oak Leaves winner). Betzel was killed in action on 27. March 1945 at the Battles of Danzig. Two weeks earlier, he was awarded the Oak Leaves.
The swastika to the Iron Cross was painted over with a pencil.
