Description

Luftwaffe photo album to Leutnant Andreas Berchtold. He served as Flugzeugführer with 2. and 4./Kampfgeschwader 54. His unit was involved in the Allied invasion of Sicily (9. July to 17. August 1943) and Normandy "D-Day". The II. Group was stationed the whole year 1942 on the Eastern Front. There the unit attacked the bases of the partisans and railway stations as well as destroyed the rail network.

The album comes with a Luftwaffe eagle 1st pattern to the front cover and the inscription "Kriegs-Erinnerungen". It shows photos of his military education (dated 1940/1941), nice portrait photos of him and his comrades as well as some shots of aircraft. An excellent photo series, taken in Athens (24.1.43-27.1.43) which shows Oberst Walter Marienfeld Walter (Knight's Cross winner, +1944) and Knight's Cross winner Hauptmann Anton Mader. Furthermore, photos, taken in Catania (Italy, Sicily). Including a nice portrait in tropical tunic. Attached address tag "Andreas Berchtold, Nürnberg" inside.

The album contains numerous handwritten information by Andras Berchtold. So you can get a very good insight into his service.

Total: 208 roughly photos.
