Description

Grouping to Unteroffizier Franz Beer who served with Infanterie-Regiment 130 during WWII and served in Russia most of the time. He was part of the France Campaign and served right up 1945. Part of the grouping is a postwar made remembrance picture telling you all service details you need to know to research his service time. It also tells all his awards which are still part of this grouping. Beer has lost one leg and was awarded the Wound Badge in gold for being wounded five times. After being badly wounded, he rescued himself by finding a horse managed to ride without a saddle to the next German unit which was 30km away. Part of the grouping is a newspaper article of his daughter who stated that he has suffered from his injuries until his death in the year 2004.

Franz Beer's personal wartime diary was published by Nobert Blaichinger in 2015: Außer Protokoll. Im Krieg gegen Russland.

All his medals were kept in a small Feldpost parcel addressed to his wife Steffi.

RZM M1/13 marked NSDAP membership badge, 1939 Iron Cross 2nd Class, East Medal, Austria Medal, SA-Sport's Badge in bronze, 1957 Infantry Assault Badge in silver, a wartime Infantry Assault Badge in silver ( S.H.u.Co.41 maker marked), Wound Badge in gold (zinc, L/21 maker marked)  two tinnes, a swastika lapel pin, a Driver's Badge in bronze as well as postwar medals.

All medals are complete and do match the complete award document grouping which comes in excellent condition.

Two September 1945 dated transcription of both Wound Badge citations. His Wehrmacht driver's license as well as postwar award documents.

A nice "Panzerabwehrplan" map of 14./Gren.Rgt.130 showing their plans to defend their position from Russian tanks. Another large size map of Russia.

There are quite a few period time Feldpost letters which surely will provide more details on his service time. His war diary is available on amazon by the way.

Empty Luftwaffe "Kriegserinnerungen" with a dedication of his wife Steffi.

There are a handfull of original photos. Many show Beer including a few nice portraits. One of the last photos was taken in military hospital in 1944/45.

A WWII period time Soviet Union flag which Franz Beer had taken as a war souvenir and managed to ship home.
