Wehrpaß to Gerhard Schmidt serving with Panzer-Abteilung 101. Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and the Tank Assault Badge in silver.
Killed in action on 4.10.1941 at Kurkina, Russia. A letter sent by his Hauptmann to his family confirming that he was killed in action. One postcard sent from his as well as two interesting documents. One written in July 1941 by his platoon leader. He suggest to award Schmidt the Iron Cross 2nd Class for bravery and cold-bloodedness. He spotted and targeted a group of Russian PAKs. The other documents was sent home to his family together with the Iron Cross and the award certificate after he was killed.
