Description
Important document and photo grouping to Oberfeldwebel Johann Port who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross as a Feldwebel. Port served as Zugführer within 8.(MG)/Inf.Rgt.266 when he was awarded the Knight's Cross on 25.8.1942 during the attack of Sewastopol (Krim). Port was sent to Gren.Rgt.744 (416.Inf.Div.) in February 1945 where he was wounded during the battles in the West (Saar region, Hunsrück, Rhine area). He was born on 3.2.1915 and died on 27.3.2006.
