Description
Nice untouched grouping of Obergefreiter Hans Ehmann serving with 11./Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 98. Ehmann was killed in action in Petrovac, near Belgrad. He was burried in this city as a document dating back to 1947 confirms.

Part of the grouping is a stunning Iron Cross 2nd Class certificate with explanation to the back. It says that Ehmann had to bring prisoners of war as well as ammunition through the front lines. Some prisoners tried to escape and Ehmann must have shot them. His Kompanie leader wrote that he acted cold blooded (kaltblütiges Verhalten) under heavy enemy fire. He furthermore acted brave as a "Einzelkämpfer from 18.-24.8.1942 in the "Klitsch-Tal" area.
Folded once. Nicely hand-filled out.

Another hand-filled out certificate to the Infantry Assault Badge in silver. Not folded. Ink signature of the regiment commander. Issued in "Fauquembergues" (France) in October 1940. Part of the grouping is a photo of Ehmann and other comrades after the awarding of the Infantry Assault badge.

Two certificates to the East Medal. One signed by the commander of the Battalion, one signed by the regiment commander. Furthermore the certificate to the Wound Badge in black. Signed by his Kompanie leader.

Two more documents relating to the Iron Cross and the East Medal awarding. On document regarding his vacation after the injury was issued by Stab./Kgf.Traegerbtl.54 (Kriegsgefangenen-Trägerbatallion 54).

Finally a very interesting 22 pages "Frontbrief" of the 11. Kompanie of Geb.Jäg.Rgt.98 containing very interesting information on the Kompanie including awardings and promotions.

Roughly 66 original photographes. You can see the face of Ehmann quite a few times.

A very nice Gebirgsjäger grouping which came from a local collector who got it straight from the family.
