Description
Impressive imperial 1888-1918 period time officer's so-called IOD (Infanterie Offiziersdegen) presentation sword with an etched damascus blade. A high end quality example manufactured by A.KLUCKE & CO. HOFLIEFERANT, BERLIN. Maker marked to the blade.
Beautiful blued artificial damascus blade with silvered and gilt etching. "von der Decken S.L. (seinem lieben) von Münchow" This blade was given to an officer and family member of the famous and very old German aristocratic family "von der Decken". The exact recipient can for sure be found out. The condition of the blade is excellent 1 to 1-.
 
Ornamented RWII (Rex Wilhelm II = Kaiser Wilhelm II) monograms to the handle. Fine ray skin fitted grip. Brass handle. Matching patina. Not cleaned. 
Iron scabbard with very light rust. No pits. Minor dents due to some use. 
 
An important piece of history.
